چکیده

Background Myocardial tagging is considered a gold-standard technique to derive myocardial strain using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in large epidemiologic studies. Nevertheless technical limitations related to tag line fading (via T1 relaxation) limit generalizability and reproducibility of this technique. Our purpose was to test myocardial tagging with radial k-space acquisition against routinely utilized Cartesian k-space sampling techniques, in order to potentially minimize tag-line fading over the cardiac cycle.

Comparison of different data acquisition strategies in myocardial strain assessment using strain-encoded (SENC) MRI

Introduction: Strain-encoding (SENC) MRI was recently introduced for measuring myocardial through-plane strain with high resolution and simple post-processing (1). Figure 1 shows the SENC pulse sequence. In a typical sequence, k-space data is acquired line by line in a rectilinear fashion, which results in long scan time and renders the technique impractical in many applications. Nevertheless, ...

Eliminating dark-rim artifacts in first-pass myocardial perfusion imaging

Background We demonstrate that projection imaging significantly reduces the prevalence and spatial extent of subendocardial dark-rim artifacts (DRAs) in first-pass perfusion (FPP) myocardial MR, compared to conventional Cartesian techniques. A major cause of DRAs, which remain a major concern in FPP imaging, is known to be the socalled Gibbs ringing (truncation) phenomenon [1-3]. Radial k-space...

Acquisition and reconstruction of undersampled radial data for myocardial perfusion magnetic resonance imaging.

PURPOSE To improve myocardial perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by reconstructing undersampled radial data with a spatiotemporal constrained reconstruction method (STCR). MATERIALS AND METHODS The STCR method jointly reconstructs all of the time-frames for each slice. In 7 subjects at rest, on a 3-T scanner, the method was compared with a conventional (GRAPPA) Cartesian approach. R...

Towards elimination of the dark-rim artifact in first-pass myocardial perfusion MRI: removing Gibbs ringing effects using optimized radial imaging.

PURPOSE Subendocardial dark-rim artifacts (DRAs) remain a major concern in first-pass perfusion (FPP) myocardial MRI and may lower the diagnostic accuracy for detection of ischemia. A major source of DRAs is the "Gibbs ringing" effect. We propose an optimized radial acquisition strategy aimed at eliminating ringing-induced DRAs in FPP. THEORY AND METHODS By studying the underlying point sprea...
